Santa Sangre starts off like so many other movies, with our protagonist acting somewhat deranged in a mental institution. He’s climbed up a tree. When offered a raw fish on a plate, he makes bird noises and comes down to grab and eat the fish. But it’s not like all those other movies, because this is a Jodorowsky movie.

This is a documentary on the making of some of Buttgereit’s films: Nekromantik, Der Todesking, and Nekromantik 2. The writer, Franz Rodenkirchen, says Joerg wanted him to write the script, since Joerg hated writing, and he wanted to show sex and death in a more pure way rather than the way it was usually portrayed in most films.
